Assignment Video
Okay, this software has potential to be used quite frequently both by me and my students. I definitely intend to expand my knowledge of this programme. What I did not like is that the software does not work on my computer and as such I had to borrow someone else's own. I can see my Physics lessons being more lively and student centred. Thanks for this exposure.
CARTOON AND KIDS
Well, when I saw this topic I was excited. I thought about all the cartoons that I saw as a child. I thought well yes, "I would be able to make cartoons like Walt Disney. I thought about the way my kids get excited when they look at cartoons and I knew that this would be something that would definitely catch the attention of my students.
Well, this dream of mine was squashed when I realized that it was HHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDD just to make a stick man walk. Do you have any idea how many hours I laboured behind this? Do you have any clue how many times I drew over these images? It was a frustrating task and to top it off, when I was finished and posted I realized that other students did really excellent and elaborate work. (I wondered if they were using the same software as me...)
Using this programme requires time, steady nerves and lots of patience.
I have resolved to attempt this again in the future.
Lesson for my children -
Do not give up.
Keep trying.
You do not have to be perfect.
You do not have to excel.
All you need to be is satisfied that you gave it your all.
That's is what I require of them.
NEVER GIVE UP! |
Assignement 1 and Children
The first assignment was to use Photoshop. I have always heard the name Photoshop but I never knew what it looked like. Doing this course forced me to start the process of learning Photoshop. I like it because I get to manipulate and transform photos. My children liked my submission and wants me to do one with their faces. Hmmm... I will show my kids how to use it so they can master the program....
My experience in the class
Now, I have done this course for six (6) weeks and my biggest concern when signing up for this was how it would have affected my family's time. I must say that I am indeed relieved to be nearing the end of this course. The last time that I studied would have been approximately four years ago and at the time my kids were a lot smaller and required more playing time than assistance with homework, studying, class trips etc.
But, I have no regrets. My family was extremely supportive and for this I am extremely grateful. It gives me the desire to pursue further studies after this has ended. And well my kids, they have previewed and criticized my assignments, giving key insights since day one.

Correction
Abuse of children has recently become a hot topic on the lips of persons from my country. It is in the media constantly and measures have been taken to safe guard the quality of life for children. Now, there is a fine line between discipline and abuse and this causes some contention among some parents and even some teachers.
As a christian, the Bible teaches us how to discipline children. It also teaches us the importance of training them in the right parts/ways when they are young. This is not a job to be taken lightly as God has consequences for parents, and adults alike, who harm them - But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. (Mat. 18:6)
So, how do we discipline children? It is simple - In LOVE.
Yes love. We all like to hear that we are loved and I am sure we all have said that we love, but, do we really know what love is? Do we understand what the Bible teaches as love. Do we understand that God is love? And, more importantly do we know that to know God we need to know His Character?
What is God's character??? Do we emulate and mentor these characteristics to children, especially those that we are the parents of? Do we??????????????????????????????
Now don't get me wrong, children have their role to play. I am intrigued in knowing what you thing these are...
Precious Children
Jesus ALWAYS took time to attend to the needs of children.
Jesus rebukes a disciple who was preventing the children from coming to him.
It goes to show that children have a special place in God's heart and requires the love and attention that we as adults often are too busy, or consider unimportant, for them.
Jesus loves the little children song.
God protects these little ones. You know it scares me how people can be cruel or harsh to children. I mean, not because we are adults mean that we are better or ALWAYS know better than children. God has his special angels looking out for the well being of each child. He even showed us how we are to treat them. Remember the disciples who were preventing the children from going to Jesus. Jesus loves each child and as such he has taken the time to demonstrate how precious they are. Here are a few Bible texts to show this:
1 Timothy 5:8
1 Timothy 5:8
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Matthew 18:2-6
He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Mark 10:13-16
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
Matthew 18:10
10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
gifts
Children are a blessing to all who they come into contact with. They are God's gift to:
1) keep us company
2) teach us patience and long suffering
3) make us laugh
4) help us
5) show us Christ's character
6) show us the simplicity in trusting and having faith
7) make life more meaningful
8) give us love
